The Kainai Women's Wellness Lodge proudly hosted their 13th Annual Walk in Her Shoes Domestic Violence Awareness Walk. This event brings together community members, organizations, and partners to raise awareness and take a stand against family violence.The day began with an opening prayer by Elder Florence Scout, setting a meaningful tone for the event. Participants walked with banners and signs from the Multi-Purpose Building to the Blood Tribe Administration Building and back to the Multi-Purpose Building, with some participants walking in high heels as a symbol of solidarity and commitment to creating safer homes, stronger families, and healthier communities.Kainaiwa Children's Services Corporation is proud to partner with Blood Tribe Victim Services, Blood Tribe Police Service, and Blood Tribe Recreation & Parks in supporting this important initiative and raising awareness about family violence in our community.Attendees received event T-shirts, toques, and a meal, and had the opportunity to hear from guest speakers. A highlight of the day was the beautiful musical performances by Karley Black Rabbit and Samuel Hunter, as well as our Drummers for the walk Doricia Healy and Keira Fox.Special Thanks to:- Blood Tribe Council and KCSC Board Members Maria Russell and Patrick Black Plume for their encouraging words and support.- Tony Delaney (MC Sound) for serving as Master of Ceremonies and helping keep the event running smoothly.- The dedicated Kainai Women's Wellness Lodge staff whose hard work helped make this event a success:Shauna Day Rider, Lennie Creighton, Ashley Atwood, and Angie Day Chief.Certificate Awards were presented to:- Julius Delaney – Certificate of Participation- Sini Atoa – Certificate of Participation- Patrick Black Plume – Baby Giraffe Wobble Award- Del Healy – 3-Speed Racer Award- Joey Blood – Grace Under Pressure AwardA very special thank you to all of the men who proudly walked in her shoes and showed their support for ending family violence. Your participation helped raise awareness and demonstrated that creating safe and respectful communities is everyone's responsibility.Kainai Women's Wellness Lodge and Kainaiwa Children's Services would like to extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who participated, volunteered, and supported this important cause.
